The Minnesota Vikings are staying busy in free agency, the team just signed a couple of players to help out the secondary.

The team announced that it is bringing back cornerback Mackensie Alexander after he spent a season playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Alexander will join safety Xavier Woods, he spent the last four seasons playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Both Alexander and Woods will join newly signed All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson in trying to turn around a secondary that ranked 29th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed during the 2020 season. You really didn't think Coach Zimmer would allow another season ranking near the bottom in pass defense, did you?

Alexander returns to the Minnesota Vikings after 10 starts for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, playing a career high 642 defensive snaps, making 47 tackles and getting 1 interception. Woods comes to the Vikings after making 72 tackles, 48 of them solo, during the 2020 season.

ESPN reports that both players signed one-year deals with the team and both signings are still pending physicals. These new additions will add some talent to help safety Harrison Smith, and cornerbacks Cam Dantzler, and Jeff Gladney, who was a first-round pick for the Vikings last year.

The Vikings still have some time to sign some more players before the 2021 NFL Draft get underway in Cleveland, Ohio on April 29th and has teams adding new players through May 1st.
