Vikings QB Kirk Cousins Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
The Vikings have had their share of problems this season, but one thing that has been pretty good all season is the play of QB Kirk Cousins.
Cousins was just recognized for his excellent game against the Carolina Panthers in the team's week 12 comeback win at an empty U.S. Bank Stadium by being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. In the game Cousins went 34-of-45 threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns.
Sunday's game was also the fourth consecutive game where Cousins' earned a passer rating of 100.0 or higher, tying a franchise record. Cousins also just became the first quarterback in NFL history to record 16 career games with 300-plus passing yards, three-plus passing touchdowns and 115.0 or better passer rating in the first nine seasons of a career. Cousins has had an amazing November, check this out, he has a league-leading 124.3passer rating, completed 105-of-145 passes for 1,293 yards, 12 touchdowns and only one interception, nice work Captain Kirk!
This is the fifth time Cousins has earned the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor, and his first time getting the prize as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
Since the Vikings hired coach Mike Zimmer, 19 different players have claimed a total of 27 NFC Player of the Week Honors from the NFL. The Vikings are back in action on the Northland Fan on Sunday when they play the 1-10 Jacksonville Jaguars.
