A busy intersection in Duluth will be closed to traffic on Friday, July 31.  Officials with the St. Louis County Public Works Department are alerting the general public that construction near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road will close that intersection to turning; while no turns will be permitted from Arlington Avenue to Arrowhead Road and vice versa, traffic on Arrowhead Road will be able to proceed straight through the intersection.

Meanwhile, Arlington Avenue will be closed to through traffic at Central Entrance.  Drivers who need to travel to a home or a business on Arlington Avenue will need to access it from Central Entrance. Drivers are directed to observe the posted road signs at the project site.

The intersection closure at Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road will start at 6:00 AM on Friday, July 31.  Officials believe that the work will be wrapped up by the end of the day and that the intersection will be reopened.

This one-day closure is tied to a larger project involving both St. Louis County and the City of Duluth.  All told, $4 million will be spent reconstructing a little more than a half mile of Rice Lake Road, widening the intersection at Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road, improvements to Technology Drive, plus new traffic signals, sidewalks, and curbs and gutters.
