Bong Bridge-Highway 2 Ramp Closure Scheduled For January 5
A maintenance project will close down one of the on-ramps to the Bong Bridge for most of the daytime hours of Tuesday, January 5. Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are alerting the general public that the work will happen to the northbound I-35 ramp to eastbound Highway 2 - Bong Bridge on January 5 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
The closure and the work is related to guardrail work that needs to be performed on that particular ramp. Work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be on site to make the scheduled repairs during the posted closure hours.
A detour will be in effect during the closure. Signs for the required detour will be posted, directing drivers to the 40th Avenue West exit, then along First Street to 46th Avenue West, and on to the bridge.
If the weather cooperates, the Minnesota Department of Transportation expects that their work crews will be able to successfully complete the scheduled work in the one day that has been posted (January 5). However, if they run into problems or encounter inclement weather, the re-schedule date for the work is January 6 with the same expected hours of operation and the same detour expected to be put in place.
