The Duluth Transit Authority has announced that they will begin offering free service on all remaining Northland routes.

According to their official statement:

The DTA, under the guidance of the Board of Directors and Senior Management, has made the decision to begin offering free bus service on all of our routes beginning Wednesday, March 18th.

This decision comes in a response to our evaluation of the current efforts and needs in response to the Covid-19 (coronavirus), and best-practices deployed by other agencies.  The aim is to limit the amount of person-to-person contact between all people occupying our transit vehicles.  Passengers are also encouraged to “social distance” where possible during trips at this time.

The DTA appreciates the support from our riders, community, and team as we navigate this evolving situation with the safety of our community above all else.

This helpful announcement was made just hours after announcing a reduction in the number of routes in the area.
