Green Bay Packers Agree To Deal With Aaron Jones
Everyone thought either he would be tagged, or they would lose him, but the Green Bay Packers signed Aaron Jones to a deal.NFL Network
Two things came together to make this deal according to the NFL website. Jones' agent Drew Rosenhaus said Green Bay was afraid to get into a bidding war because they thought he could get more on the free-agent market and then they couldn't afford him, and Jones wanted to stay in Green Bay and continue to work with Aaron Rodgers and the coaching staff.
Miami had been the front runner and according to S.I. Packer Fan page, they were going to get him. The Dolphins have a lot of cap space and it was reported that the Packers had almost none.
According to NFL.com his stats show he was doing well in Green Bay, so that might be part of staying to play there, he is producing big numbers. He is one of the top-ranked running backs in the league and according to Gregg Rosenthal's list of the top 101 free agents, he was the number 9 best upcoming free agents.
