A bridge-replacement project that's tied to the Twin Ports Interchange work will completely close I-35 to all traffic for a few days - albeit with a signed detour.  Work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be removing the 27th Avenue West Bridge starting Friday night, November 13 at 8:00 PM.

The current timeline for the project anticipates that I-35 will be closed to traffic all weekend long.  MNDOT officials expect that the work will continue through Sunday, November 15.

Once again, this closure of I-35 will occur to all lanes in both directions.  A signed detour will be in place to route traffic off the interstate and through the on and off ramps in that area of 27th Avenue West.

Drivers who need to use I-35 during this time period are asked to be observant and cautious.  The detour signs will guide you on and off the interstate, but be prepared for delays and changing road conditions.  You're also asked to slow down and be courteous and cautious of other drivers.

The removal and replacement of the 27th Avenue West Bridge over I-35 is tied to the Twin Ports Interchange (Can of Worms) project.  Work began this summer and is expected to continue through the winter season, resuming in full once springtime rolls around.  You can get complete details about the Twin Ports Interchange project and any of the road work being performed (or scheduled) by the Minnesota Department of Transportation by clicking here to visit their online project page.
