DENVER -- AP -- The player-driven "My Cause My Cleats" campaign has taken a foothold in the NFL. The initiative is 5 years old this year and more than 1,000 players participated. That's double the number of players who were part of the first campaign back in 2016.

Players get to show off stylish shoes and raise both awareness and funds for their charities and causes. The rest of the season players can only wear creative cleats during pregame warmups and not during games. Some say the the campaign has shown fans the human side of professional football players.
