Report: Minnesota Vikings Finalizing Deal To Bring Back Everson Griffen
A matter of a few days after working out with the team, it sounds like a reunion between pass rusher Everson Griffen and the Minnesota Vikings is imminent.
Early last week, reports surfaced that Griffen would be working out with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, August 18. The workout must have been impressive enough to warrant bringing him back, because sources are saying it is almost a done deal.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted Monday morning that the Vikings are expected to sign Griffen, who spent 10 of his 11 years in the NFL in Minnesota.
As pointed out by Rapoport, Griffen spent last season splitting time between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. He signed a deal with the Cowboys to start the 2020 season, but was traded to Detroit in October.

ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin says the terms of the contract are still being worked out, according to her sources.
Griffen played in a total of 14 games (7 in Dallas, 7 in Detroit), earning starts in only two games, both for the Lions. He notched 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Cowboys and 3.5 in Detroit for a total of 6 sacks on the season.
Once the deal is done, the four-time Pro Bowler enters the conversation for the other defensive end slot, opposite Danielle Hunter. Currently-rostered Stephen Weatherly and D.J. Wonnum have been leading the position battle to date. We'll have to see when Griffen's deal is finalized, and whether or not he ends up being depth or situation addition, or if the 33 year old finds himself sliding into more of a starting role.
